Thanks to Simon Woodside of Semacode I learned that telecommunications provider Qwest is sponsoring a multi-city treasure hunt using Nokia 6225 camera phones that capture semacodes (barcode-like graphics) that provide clues (see below) to contest participants.
The treasure hunt, ConQwest, has an interesting Web site that's well worth seeing, and it certainly is a great advertisement for semacodes. The event is occurring today in Minneapolis and also will be held in Denver, Seattle, Salt Lake City and Phoenix.
To win prizes contestants must snap photos of semacodes and figure out clues. Simon says 1,000 people will be participating and he will have more information on his Web site.
More information
There will be much more information very soon that's related Simon's semacode platform.
For more information about the use of semacodes and other similar techniques for camera phones, check out the article in the International Herald Tribune.
Update - 1010/04: For photos and more information relating to ConQwest, check out Simon Woodside's page.
