From “What Digital Photographer” I see that The Times and Sony Ericsson are sponsoring a camera phone contest to find the “Cameraphone Photographer of the Year.” (see below).
The information in The Times says, “From celebrity snapping to serious news capture, cameraphones are a growing part of the media agenda. Cameraphones are making news pundits out of us all.
“World events such as last July's London bombings, human interest stories about a celeb on the high street or local news on the village football team are captured and shared instantly. And all to a waiting, watching and wider audience.”
Prizes
The Cameraphone Photographer of the Year will get a six-night all expense paid trip to a destination in Europe to shoot news photos and spend a day with a Times photographer to learn photography tips. In addition, the winning photo will be printed in The Times and also displayed (with photos of the finalists) in a London gallery.
Weekly winners will get their photos published in The Times’ Picture Gallery and a monthly winner will get a Sony Ericsson K750i or K800i camera phone. The deadline for submissions is November 2, 2006.
You must be a resident of the U.K. or the Republic of Ireland. You may enter as many photos as you want.
The Cameraphone Photographer of the Year also will be able to submit the photo to Sony Ericsson for the company’s International Cameraphone Photographer of the Year.
