YouTube offers video posts via Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon

From JKOnTheRun I see that YouTube now enables subscribers to Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon to transmit videos from their cellular phones (see below).

    YouTube mobile

I tried sending a video a couple of times from a Sprint camera phone but the upload failed.  I’m not sure why and I don’t have time to deal with it now.

YouTube has generated an incredible amount of buzz with its millions of users.  It will be interesting to see whether the service can be financially successful as it currently blows through huge amounts of bandwidth and, consequently, huge amounts of money to pay for that bandwidth.

    Business case or not

In the meantime, there are many, many similar sites for sharing photos and videos.  It will be interesting as well to see which ones, if any, manage to produce a viable business.

Sharing photos and videos is a given.  It’s being done and it’s just the tip of the wireless imaging iceberg.  But making money through sharing is another matter entirely.
